Why

Join Greens MLC Abigail Boyd and local experts discussing the future of early childhood education in NSW.

Following the release of a damning Government report into early childhood care in NSW, the MP who instigated the investigations will join local education experts in Nowra for a free community forum on June 16.

Abigail Boyd, Margaret Gleeson and Tara Leslie will address a free community forum to find out more about their critical work and ask the questions important to you about early childhood education and care (ECEC)  across NSW and in the Shoalhaven.

Register online. Light meal provided.

Make your voice heard and support important and overdue change.

Abigail Boyd, (MLC since 2019) chaired a parliamentary inquiry into the early childhood sector, launched in response to harrowing ABC Four Corners exposés on abuse, neglect, and ECEC regulatory failures. Abigail has worked alongside teaching professionals, whistleblowers and investigative journalists to expose the flaws in Australia’s early childhood education (ECE) sector.

Margaret Gleeson is Managing Director of Keiraville Community Preschool and one of six Independent Education Union Ambassadors at the Fair Work Commission, advocating for pay parity for community preschool educators and teachers.

Tara Leslie is the CEO of Cullunghutti Aboriginal Child and Family Centre. She is passionate about ensuring children get the holistic education and care they most need. Cullunghutti, in East Nowra, has pioneered an approach to support children and families living with significant stress and disadvantage.

“We need a fundamental shift in how early childhood education and care is valued, funded and governed," said Ms Boyd.

“State and Federal governments have been wilfully ignorant to the entirely predictable results of a market-driven, corporatised expansion of the early childhood sector.

“This was always a false economy. The sector is built on trust, and that trust emerges from quality.”
