Why

Unveiling the treasures of the music of the Arab world, "In the Shadows of Music" is a 2-hr concert (with an interval) of a variety of Arabic music styles as an artistic response to tumultuous times. Through a vibrant tapestry of Arab musical styles (including Andalusi Muwashah, Syrian Qudoud, 20th Century Classics, Longa, Sufi and more), Tarab Ensemble's performances are a testament to the power of classical Arabic music in defying time and space while fostering empathy, hope, beauty and unity.

Tickets available from Oztix.

Featuring Band Without Borders (Castlemaine and surrounds based)

Tarab Ensemble is a collective of accomplished musicians drawing inspiration from the captivating concept of tarab and the deeply expressive and beautiful traditions of classical Arabic music. Tarab is an Arabic term describing a deep pleasure state through music, and the group – with members from Palestine, Syria, Australia, Armenia, Japan, Iran and Egypt – lives up to its name. Blending Arabic instruments such as the oud (lute) and nay with western instruments such as saxophone, flute and double bass, the result is hypnotic and blissful.

Tickets available from Oztix.
