The General Secretary of the Palestinian People’s Party and member of the PLO Executive Committee, Bassam Al-Salhi, has responded to the latest 'peace plan' for Gaza, saying that the priority is to stop the assault, genocide and displacement in Gaza and ensure Israel's withdrawal — without accepting any political dictates that aim to liquidate the rights of the Palestinian people.

The General Secretary of the Palestinian People’s Party and member of the PLO Executive Committee, Bassam Al-Salhi, stated that the Palestinian position on Trump’s plan must support ending the aggression, but not under the political conditions imposed by the United States and Israel.

He stressed that the urgent national priority is to stop the assault, genocide, and displacement in Gaza and ensure withdrawal — without accepting any political dictates that aim to liquidate the rights of the Palestinian people.

Al-Salhi described Trump’s proposal as a reproduction of the “Deal of the Century” in its most dangerous form, fully based on Israeli conditions designed to eliminate the Palestinian cause by isolating Gaza, erasing the PLO’s representation, abolishing the refugee question, and consolidating annexation in the West Bank.

He further emphasised that confronting this plan requires a unified Palestinian stance, through urgent consultations between the PLO, Hamas, and all national forces, in order to formulate a strategy that clearly distinguishes between efforts to halt the aggression and the rejection of political outcomes that undermine the essence of the Palestinian cause.

Al-Salhi concluded by stressing that any attempt to present Netanyahu and Trump as “peace brokers” after the massacres constitutes a political crime.

The only path to a just solution, he affirmed, is to end the occupation, establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and guarantee the right of return for refugees in accordance with international legitimacy.
