Why
The United States has moved substantial air and naval assets near Venezuela and increased the capacity of military sites on Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
This build up includes the USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier, destroyers, cruisers, amphibious assault ships, and a special forces support ship. A variety of aircraft have also been active in the region, including bombers, fighters, drones, patrol planes, and support aircraft. Thousands of US troops have been deployed in the region.
The US continues to murder Venezuelan and Colombian fisherfolk through missile strikes on small vessels in the Caribbean which it claims are "drug boats". These are war crimes.
In a further escalation on November 29, Trump unilaterally declared Venezuelan airspace “closed in its entirety”.
The International Peoples’ Assembly and ALBA Movements call for an International Day of Solidarity to say, loud and clear: No War on Venezuela. No War in Latin America and the Caribbean.
