Why

You’re invited to a fun, theatrical and memorable action with a serious message, coinciding with the UN COP30 climate summit wrapping up in Brazil.

Meet at Thai Orchid Restaurant.

At the opening session of this year’s summit, UN secretary general António Guterres said that failing to limit global heating to 1.5C is a “moral failure and deadly negligence” that would have “dramatic consequences.”

World leaders – including Australian politicians – have their heads in the sand and are refusing to act in line with what the science demands.

The ongoing approval of new fossil fuel projects by the Australian government is a stark betrayal of our Pacific Island neighbours and makes a mockery of international efforts.

Join us to condemn the CLIMATE COP OUT and demand an end to the fossil fuel capture of our politicians.

We’d love as many people as possible to play the part of a politician by dressing in formal attire (optional) and burying your head in the sand (safely and symbolically)!

Other roles will also be available on the day – from holding banners, to handing out fliers.

Meet at 9:30am on the south side of Henley Square, near the Thai Orchid restaurant.

For scheduling updates check the Facebook event or the Action Network event.
