This event is organised by members of the local Karratha community appalled at the indiscriminate violence perpetrated by the Israeli military against the largely civilian population of Gaza.
We are gathering to express our grief at the mounting death toll and dislocation of Palestinians, while also calling on the Australian government to join the international call for a ceasefire. The unfolding genocide in Gaza must be stopped to avoid any more loss of life, and the international community must put maximum pressure on Israel to end the bombing and incursions into Gaza. We do not condone the targeting by Hamas of Israeli civilians. We also recognise that the violence of October 7 is a direct result of seven decades of violent dispossession of Palestinians by Israel. Lasting peace is only possible when genocide stops, apartheid is ended and human rights are applied equally, irrespective of ethnicity or religion
This event is an inclusive and family-friendly event. No anti-social behaviour, including islamophobic or anti-semitic messages will be tolerated. For further details, please contact Chris on 0415922740 or Imraan Kolia on 0415 352 613.
We gather on the land of the Ngarluma people, and pay our respects to elders past and present.
