Why

There are still 77 refugees left behind in Papua New Guinea who were detained for years on Manus Island. They are now housed in Port Moresby where they live in fear of robbery and attack, some of them now seriously sick. The Australian government has tried to pretend they are now PNG’s responsibility, but this is a thin excuse.

This forum will hear directly from refugees and people supporting them in PNG about their situation, and what we can do to demand the Australian government bring them here to safety.

Speakers

  • Yasir (Somali refugee stranded in Papua New Guinea via Zoom)
  • Jason Siwat (Director of the Migrants and Refugees Desk with Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands via Zoom)
  • Thanus Selvarasa (Former Manus refugee now in Sydney)
