Why

Come together and be inspired by international film adventures. This free and new short film festival is being held at 107 Project’s South Eveleigh venue from Thursday 27 – Saturday 29 April. Offering four short film sessions, accompanied by the latest insights from this country’s leading social justice and environmental campaigners. 

Join us to watch powerfully direct storytelling, tender dramas and funny animated films selected from over 3,000 international entries. Enjoy affordable food and drinks and meet the filmmakers. Vote for your favourite films at each of the sessions to award four audiences prizes of $200 per film.

Presented by North Productions, Green Left and 107 Projects, supported by Screen NSW. Entry is free.

Struggle In Action. Thursday 27th April, 5.30-9pm.

Featuring eight short films from our country, Czech Republic, Spain, Netherlands, Nepal and England. After the screening hear the latest actions from chair: Isaac Nellist (Green Left), speakers: Carolyn Veg Ienna (Wirudjuri Nation, Hands Off Glebe), Karyn Brown (Action for Public Housing), Lloukkass Kak, (Retail and Fast-Food Workers Union), Aaisha Slee (Blue Mountains Housing campaign).

DeColonise. Friday 28th April, 5.30-9pm

One hour of inspiring short films from so-called Australia, Columbia, Brazil, USA and Spain.  After the films enjoy music from Chilean solidarity band and dancing from the Sydney Kurdish Youth Association. And hear the latest insights from chair: Ben Radford (Green Left), speakers: Paula Sanchez (Latin America Social Forum, Socialist Alliance), Tito Scohel (People In Colour), Zanin (Sydney Kurdish Youth Association).

People and Planet.  Saturday 29th April, 2-5pm 

Featuring over an hour of inspiring short films from so-called Australia, Algeria, Germany, South India, Uzbekistan, Turkey. After the films activists give updates on successful actions, chair: Rachel Evans (Green Left), Ethan Lyons (a proud, environment activist and queer Wiradjuri student, a key leader in organising student climate strikes in Sydney/Gadigal), Gillian Reffell (Move Beyond Coal).

LOVE, ART, REVOLUTION FILM FESTIVAL: Smashing Rigid Binaries. Saturday 29th April, 5.30-9pm

Feminist and LGBTIQ+ rights films made here and in the USA, Iran, Brazil, Italy, Chile, Western Kurdistan. Hear from Mark Gillespie (1978 activist, long term social LGBTIQ+ and social justice activist), Cris Bernart (Fruits from Brazil), Tina Kord (Iranian solidarity movement).
