Attack on Bolivia, Evo Morales condemned

Issue

The Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity express their indignation at the criminal attack perpetrated in the afternoon of Tuesday July 3 against Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma, by the government of the United States and with the clear complicity of various European states.

The denial of right to entry air space or to refuel the FAB-001 plane of the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia by some European countries, is not only an affront to the first indigenous president of Latin America, but also to the process of integration and consolidation of the Great Homeland that is recovering its sovereignty and leaving behind its status of being the US' “backyard”.

Bolivia, in the figure of Evo Morales, a coca farmer that faced off against the DEA during his time as a union leader and who, as president, expelled the US ambassador and USAID, is a clear example of how to carry out processes of change in support of the popular majorities with a clear anti-colonial and anti-imperialist position.

The cowardly and criminal aggression against Evo Morales is a threatening sign of just how willing imperialism is to put an end to the presidents and dignified peoples of Latin America, to destroy the dignity and sovereignty that has been recovered and to once again appropriate our natural resources.

We call on the people and governments of Latin America, but also the people of Europe that are suffering an assault waged against them by their economic and political elites, to denounce and condemn the neo-colonial attitude of Spain, France, Portugal and Italy, colonies of a decadent power.

It is no longer the time of empires or colonies, it’s the time of the people and dignity!
