Land Rights - Truth & Reparatory Justice - Climate Justice - Stop Deaths in Custody - Stop Child Removals - Sovereignty Never Ceded
January 26 2022 will mark 234 years since British imperialism invaded Gadigal lands, starting a war of genocide that founded the country now known as Australia.
While the nation celebrates, Aboriginal people continue to resist, asserting unbroken sovereignty.
This year also marks 50 years since the Aboriginal Tent Embassy was established in Canberra, an earthquake moment in history that put the struggle for Land Rights on the international agenda.
We honour this proud history of resistance and will retrace the steps of the 1938 Day of Mourning. This involves a silent march from Town Hall to Australia Hall on Elizabeth st, before proceeding to Yabun in Victoria Park.
Rally organisers want to make it clear we take the threat of COVID-19 very seriously, even as the Australian government proves again they don’t care about the health of Aboriginal people or the broader community. We request all rally attendees wear a mask and try and spread out at the rally. Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell or have any flu like symptoms.
We have NO affiliation with or space at this rally for the anti-vaccination groups currently co-operating with the far right and disgracefully disrespecting the legacy of the Tent Embassy in Canberra.
Stand with Aboriginal people on Invasion Day on Gadigal lands. Hear from families and campaigners who fight injustice everyday. Join us at 10:30am at Town Hall.
