David, be my Florentine

Issue

Sixty women gathered outside the Tasmanian parliament on February 13 — the day before Valentines Day — to urge Premier David Bartlett to not "tear the heart out of Tasmania".

The women invited Bartlett on a "Valentines Day date" to the pristine Upper Florentine — the home of some of Tasmania's most precious forests and under threat from widespread logging.

@9point ="We would be absolutely delighted if Mr Bartlett would join us on a date in the Upper Florentine to experience the beauty of the Valley's virgin old growth forests and see firsthand the destruction that's breaking our hearts", spokesperson Jess Wright said.
