Indigenous activists 'evict' Melbourne Lord Mayor

Activists from Occupy Melbourne’s Indigenous Working Group served an eviction to Melbourne City Council and Lord Mayor Robert Doyle on November 23.

Indigenous activist Robbie Thorpe said: “Australia is a crime scene, whose law is based on the principles of theft, rape and murder. We need a treaty with the Original Nations.”

The action was called by in response to the recent violent attacks on the democratic right to protest, including the brutal attack on several Indigenous activists on October 21 when Occupy Melbourne was evicted from City Square.

During the attack, the Aboriginal flag was stolen and sent to a rubbish tip.

In another attack on November 22, 100 police surrounded the Aboriginal customs house and stole its tent.

this movement has been hijacked by fools.....if they want to change things why dont they run for parliament. Isn't it ironic that doyle and baillieu are berated but they are our elected officals? So Robbie Thorpe waves a flag and now has a "customs" house ... a motley crew....what if the police were running around with a flag and demonstrating? would that be a license for a police state? I suppose it could be, they have a bigdrum and beat it like these demonstrators.... somehow beating a drum is part of demonstrating and the more noise the more justified their grievances. I passed the treasury gardens a week ago and some one was handing out bread...is Jesus involved in the demonstrating?
