Its time for energy companies to wipe the slate clean and stop the debt cycle.
In 2026 Australia’s two biggest energy companies made $2 billion in profit with Origin taking over $1.5 billion alone. At the same time, the number of people in energy debt continues to climb.
Only 26% of impacted households projected to be able to eventually pay off energy debt. The rest are left in a dangerous debt cycle with higher energy costs than they can repay each billing period.
Origin must prioritise affordable, accessible energy powered by renewables prioritised for everyone.
