Why
On Tuesday 15 September, public hospital doctors across Victoria will stop work for 24 hours and come together on the steps of Parliament House.
Here are 5 steps you can take ahead of the action:
- Tell your health service you intend to stop work
- Plan your trip
- Organise with your colleagues
- Start making your posters and banners
- Write your message to the Premier to bring with you

The plan for Tuesday 15 September
Before you leave
Where possible travel together from your hospital on public transport.
Wear your AMA Victoria T-shirt and lanyard so doctors travelling into the city are visible as a collective.
Bring:
- a picnic lunch
- a deck chair or picnic rug
- your signs and banners
- your letter to the Government.
12.00 pm: Meet at Parliament House
Meet on the steps of Parliament House, Spring Street.
12.30-1.15 pm: Speeches
Hear from doctors about why we are taking action and what needs to change.
1.15 pm: Walk to Carlton Gardens
We will leave Parliament together and walk to Carlton Gardens.
1.17-3.00 pm: The first protected doctors' lunch in Victorian history
Bring your picnic, pull up a chair and join doctors from across Victoria for what we believe will be the first protected doctors' lunch in Victorian history.
