Why

Under AUKUS, as of 2027 up to four US and one UK nuclear powered submarines are due on rotation at HMAS Stirling. It is now feared that Stirling is in effect to become a ‘US base’ and that future US 'rotating' nuclear powered submarines could also be nuclear armed.

It is becoming increasingly clear that AUKUS will not keep us safe - on the contrary, having US submarines and defence assets in Cockburn Sound risk making us a military target.

We encourage attendees to join us at 11am at the Rockingham war memorial for a short peace walk to the main event at Churchill Park. This family friendly event will feature a variety of great activities for all including:

  • Dove painting
  • Origami classes
  • Kite making on the beach for Palestine
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Poetry reading
  • Info & merch stall

And more activities to come!

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own food and picnic blankets. A BBQ is available onsite a short walk from the event.
The event will finish with a march down to the Rockingham Jetty opposite Stirling, Garden Island for a photoshoot.

We acknowledge the traditional Owners and Custodians of the land in the City of Rockingham on which this event is held, the Binjareb and Whadjuk Nyoongar peoples. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded.
