A panel featuring authors and journalists discussing how essays, books, and long‑form journalism have shaped public understanding of Palestine — past and present.

Speakers will explore the role of political writing in documenting truth, challenging propaganda, and preserving histories of resistance.

The conversation will address censorship, media bias, and the responsibilities of writers in moments of crisis, followed by an audience Q&A and informal discussion.

Part of the Symphony of Resistance Book Week events taking place in the Resistance Centre between August 22-29.

Speakers

Khaled Ghannam, Palestinian author, journalist and Socialist Alliance member, recently returned from Jordon and West Bank.

Kavita Naidu, human rights lawyer and co-founder of Pasifika for Palestine Australia, a grassroots community advocacy group uniting members of the Pacific diaspora to advocate for Palestinian rights and oppose regional government complicity in the occupation of Gaza.

Jude Alexander, journalist and author based in Gadigal Country/Sydney. Jude is currently interviewing anti-war campaigners, councillors and MPs for a her new book, “Solidarity with Gaza”.

Judith Treanor is an activist with Jews Against the Occupation ’48 based in Gadigal Country/Sydney. She is a voracious writer for various publications, including Michael West Media, Green Left and Pearls and Irritations

Chaired by Mark Gillespie, social anthropologist and City of Sydney for Palestine activist.
