Keynote speaker: Eda Tegin.

Born and raised as a Hazara woman in Kabul, Afghanistan, Eda spent her early childhood in the Afshar district until the tragic Afshar Massacre. Eda’s family sought refuge in Quetta, Pakistan during the first Taliban takeover. There, Eda established a non-profit education centre (Kawsar) for Afghan and Hazara refugees, providing hundreds of refugee students with access to education and hope for a brighter future.

Eda migrated to Australia in 2002 at the age of 18. She has since set up the Tegin Foundation, a not-for-profit dedicated to creating positive social change through education and jobs in Afghanistan. She is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Followed by Q&A with an amazing panel of women with lived experience: Hamida Sedaqat from Queensland, Masuma Mohseni from Tasmania, Hamida Samar from Victoria and Sohayla Javid recently arrived in Australia from Kabul.
