Why
SAGE is a community for all folks who love and care for our planet. Our monthly gatherings are a space to nourish each other, so that we can nourish our world.
Join us for an evening of delicious food, hearty discussion and new skills. The night will start with a shared meal, then we will move into community announcements, then into open space workshops, with lots of space for social breaks throughout.

SAGE will now be held at YouthInc, an alternative school for 18-25 yr olds in a cool converted church on Pulteney St. We're keen to build a mutual relationship with the generous YouthInc crew and help make the space our own for the long haul.
Of course, SAGE is still (& will always be) for all ages. Young or old, parent or pensioner, first-timer or seasoned activist - everyone is welcome.
The theme this month is Building From Below: nourishing the movement and the mycelium.
Mycelium is the underground network fungi create to share information and resources with other species, creating mutually beneficial relationships. Mycelium also breaks down what is no longer useful, forming a metaphor for the unlearning of unhelpful practices.
What could a ‘mycelium’ look like in our community?
You notice the community has a need - how might you and a group meet that need?
It could be as simple giving people food or a bigger idea for a group/team/resource that could support the work of many
Like how might we support the recruitment and upskilling of people who want to build skills to talk about climate or social justice and make a difference?
It could upskilling as a legal observers or marshals, first aiders, building upon community care networks
What do you think? Bring your dreams and hopes for the future!
Some (optional) things you might want to bring…
- A plate of food to share for the potluck dinner
- Veggies or seedlings for the produce swap
- Something to mend at the mending corner
- Energy to help shape the new space and make it our own!!
Run through of how the night will (roughly) go...
- 4:30-5:15: Arriving, Sharing food.
- 5:15-5:45: Welcome, Community Announcements.
- 5:45-7:45: Open Space Workshop Sessions (including a break for tea/chats).
- 7:45: Closing Circle.
