Why

NO WAVE is proud to present ART AS ACTION, a night of poetry, music and art to raise funds to support grassroots activism.

Tickets are $10 (free for mob) and are available from Humanitix – limited spots so get in quick. You can also donate through the ticketing page even if you can't come.

Join us on Wednesday July 1 at the Wheaty to hear talented local artists responding to the theme of ART AS ACTION. Art has always been a tool for collective liberation – a way to give marginalised people voice and agency, to build political momentum, and to tell alternative versions of the past, present and future. Now more than ever, we need to share stories, poems and songs that inspire us, radicalise us, move us to act, and connect us with other people and their struggles.

Important info:

  • Doors open 6.30pm, first set of speakers at 7pm. Line up coming soon!
  • Tickets are $10 and free for mob. Buy through Humanitix – limited spots so get in quick.
  • Zines, earrings, stickers and other merch will be available for purchase on the night.
  • Drinks will be available at the bar and there will be a food truck outside.

This event is a fundraiser, with all proceeds from tickets and merch (minus artist fees) given directly to two grassroots causes:

  • 50% of proceeds will go towards supporting the Close Pine Gap – Sacred Land Back Convergence in Mparntwe/Alice Springs. Held from July 18-20, it will bring together activists from around the continent for workshops and protest to say Close Pine Gap, End the US Alliance, and Sacred Land Back
  • 50% of proceeds will go to supporting Preserving Pirltawardli, a culture-sharing community gathering run by the Kaurna Collective.

Merch offerings!

As part of the event, we will be selling hand-made merch and accessories including earrings, t-shirts and posters. All funds will be used towards Sacred Land Back Convergence and Preserving Pirltawardli.

First started in 2017, NO WAVE is a reading series held on the first Wednesday of every month at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, bringing together some of Adelaide’s best poets & other writers. Fans of poetry, fiction, memoir & more are treated to readings from established and emerging local talent.

NO WAVE recognises that we are on the unceded lands of the Kaurna people. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

Tickets are $10 (free for mob) and are available from Humanitix – limited spots so get in quick. You can also donate through the ticketing page even if you can't come.
