The talk will discuss:

  • Australia’s national independent public broadcaster and the challenges it faces - both historically and currently in a rapidly changing media landscape.
  • Massive changes that have swept through the Australia media, technology and political landscapes in the past decade and explores the often tense relationships between the ABC and governments since 1932 when the ABC was formed.
  • The vital role that the ABC plays in Australia today with its award-winning journalism, its vast array of cultural, artistic, educational and documentary programs on television, on radio and online to people across a vast continent.
