Why
From Brisbane River to the Southbank "Sea", run with us until Palestine is free!
26 people have been arrested in QLD so far publicly supporting Palestine, charged under Crisafulli's prohibited expressions laws. We've seen state censorship of public artworks and police raids on the homes of citizens and artists calling out the ongoing genocide in Gaza. But the movement for Palestinian liberation is unwavering. Now more than ever is the time to keep showing up for Palestine!
Justice for Palestine Magandjin are fundraising to challenge these prohibited expressions laws in the High Court, and they need all the financial support we can muster. So we're breaking out the activewear for a good ol' fashion fun run!
How does it work?
Form a team or run solo, the main goal is getting the word out and raising dollars for the Justice for Palestine legal fund. We'll start with a fashion forward catwalk in Reddacliff Place in the CBD, fashionistas to the front please. Then together we will run (or walk, stroll or roll) over the Brisbane River to end at the fake beach in Southbank aka "the sea".
Prizes for Best Dressed and Most Funds Raised will be awarded on the day, and there'll be a repeat of the Farnsey Flashmob dance for those who missed out.
What are we wearing?
So glad you asked! We're channeling the power walking hornbags Kath Day-Knight and Kel Knight from Kath & Kim. Think parachute pants, short shorts, long socks, sweat bands, tiny dumbells in hand. Now hold onto that thought, and put it all on a watermelon.
We'll have fun run bibs and t-shirts available to purchase on the day so bring cash if you love merch!
Not that into running?
Power walk, leisurely stroll, or joyfully roll with us. Every body is welcome.
Can't make it on the day?
Help out by donating to and sharing the word on Justice For Palestine Magandjin's legal fund.
We want to acknowledge and pay our respects to the Jagera and Turrbal peoples whose lands this event will take place on, and whose sovereignty was never ceded. We acknowledge that the ongoing occupation and genocide here on this continent is inextricably linked to the continued occupation and genocide in Palestine. Until all the lands occupied by colonial forces are returned to their rightful sovereign peoples, there can be no justice and no peace.
