Rally and march to save Waterloo public housing tenants from eviction and public housing from being demolished and sold-off to developers.
The ALP Minns government is demolishing and privitisating Waterloo public housing.
The Save Waterloo Encampment was set up on Sunday May 24 to organise with the community to resist evictions and demolitions.
The ALP leadership promised, in 2023, before being elected, to save Waterloo and rejected the Liberal state government's privitisation plan. Since elected, they reneged and have evicted 145 residents from their homes and this week, bought in the demolition teams and police to force peaceful protesters away from picketing their destruction units.
One activist was forcibly removed, dragged and arrested on Tuesday 9th June for blocking the demolition trucks. But the Save Waterloo Encampment and campaign continues.
Surviving for, as of writing, for 17 days, the Save Waterloo Encampment is rallying on Saturday June 13, 12-1.30pm with First Nations community members to tell the government to back off from their war on public housing at Waterloo.
