Why

South Australia’s health system relies on nurses and midwives — yet our state is struggling to recruit and retain the workforce needed to meet growing demand.

After more than a year of bargaining, and despite intensive discussions and advocacy since the State Election, the South Australian Government has still not put forward a nationally competitive wages and conditions offer that genuinely values and respects public sector nurses and midwives.

At a time of rising demand, workforce shortages, and fierce interstate competition for skilled health professionals, South Australia cannot afford to fall behind.

Earlier this month, nurses and midwives at Lyell McEwin Hospital stopped work for 24 hours to show the government that we deserve wages and condition that respect and value the critical work we do every day.

On Thursday, 18 June, it’s Flinders’ turn.

Join them, as they rally outside the site. Drop in and sign our banner with your message of support or stay for a coffee and to stand in solidarity.

We have waited long enough. Now is the time to act.

Members are encouraged to attend and show support.

We are Stronger Together.
