Why
Join the Environment Centre Northern Territory (ECNT), to celebrate the groundbreaking release of Darwin Harbour: A Marine National Treasure - a new report that changes everything we thought we knew about our own backyard.
Commissioned by ECNT and authored by Oceanwise and Donna Jackson, this landmark report reveals that Darwin Harbour is an ecological hotspot to rival the world-renowned Ningaloo Reef - right here, on our doorstep.
This event is free to attend but requires registration.
But alongside climate change, our Harbour faces mounting pressure from coastal development, shipping, dredging, pollution, overfishing, and invasive species.
Come hear from the researchers and advocates fighting for the Harbour we all love.
On stage, you'll hear from:
- Donna Jackson, a Larrakia woman with expertise in ethnobiology, guided bush tucker walks, cross-cultural training, and local history and environment.
- Ben Fitzpatrick, Environmental Scientist and Director of Oceanwise Australia.
- Dr Kirsty Howey, Executive Director of Environment Centre NT.
- Dr Amanda Lilleyman, migratory shorebird expert and Co-Convenor BirdLife Top End.
- Thor Jensen, NT Community Campaigner at Australian Marine Conservation Society.
This event is free to attend but requires registration.
