Why
The Great Ride of Return is a global, non-violent, family-friendly grassroots movement uniting communities across more than 95 cities and 35 countries demanding justice, equality and an end to the occupation.
Inspired by the Gaza Sunbirds, participants of all ages gather to cycle peacefully, raise the Palestinian flag, and fund essential support for displaced families and disability rehabilitation. What began as solidarity rides has blossomed into an international campaign that merges the Sunbirds’ commitment to justice and inclusion with a collective call for freedom and peace.

The Big Ride for Palestine-Australia is proudly supporting the Gaza Sunbirds and the Great Ride of Return. On Sunday 29th March we will assemble on the Yeronga Corso in the park adjacent to the Baladi Coffee Bus and ride a 24 km loop of the river, calling into Long Pocket.
On our return there will be a 2 km children’s ride in Yeronga Park entirely on bikeways. A walk option is also available.

This ride coincides with the next Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza. On March 29, 2026, a unified maritime flotilla and overland humanitarian convoy will depart simultaneously, mobilizing thousands from over 100 countries in a coordinated, nonviolent response to genocide, siege, mass starvation, and the destruction of civilian life in Gaza.
On the day, a few remaining collectors items, namely TBR4Palestine cotton T-shirts, will be available complete with our now banned motto: From the River to the Sea Free Palestine.
