Why

The Gardens of Stone Alliance, together with Young Nerve, is urgently convening a community meeting and protest concert to push back against coal pollution impacting Sydney’s drinking water catchment and the sensitive Gardens of Stone region and World Heritage area.

Underground coal mining is damaging groundwater, destroying endangered peat swamps, and threatening nature.

Groundwater is laced with toxic heavy metals and Centennial Coal is approved to dump its wastewater into the headwaters of our catchment.

We can’t allow this to happen. Our drinking water should not become a dumping ground for coal waste. We need a public, independent inquiry now: Say no to coal mine expansions or extensions in the sensitive Gardens of Stone.

We strongly encourage you to attend one or both of the following events.

Community Meeting with Speakers

Join us as we hear from leading water expert, Dr Ian Wright, Blue Mountains MP Trish Doyle, Greens MLC Sue Higginson and Blue Mountains mayor Mark Greenhill.
