Snap Action: Don't let Cook Govt roll out carpet for Climate Criminals

Why

The Cook Government this week proposed a shocking overhaul of environmental laws that would fast-track industrial projects, take away the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) independence, and remove the public’s right to appeal environmental assessments.

The implications for our work to keep the Kimberley Frack Free are dire - the Environment Minister could fast-track frackers to get to work, pressuring the EPA to approve and robbing us of our rights to appeal.

This is a shocking upheaval of our state’s environmental laws, which the WA Government has snuck in before Christmas.
We need to show staunch opposition, can you join us tomorrow at 10 AM in Baldivis outside the Environment Minister’s office?

Join us for a fun, creative protest where we will roll out a red carpet like how the Cook Government is doing for fossil fuel companies, accompanied by a ‘Sad Santa’ to deliver our petition, and climate-action-themed Christmas carols.

It’s vital the state Government and key decision-makers like Reece Whitby see the community won’t stand for shredding environmental approval laws for the benefit of the fossil fuel industry.

At the same time, the Cook Government is pushing ahead with new legislation that would turn the state into a dumping ground for waste carbon. Carbon capture and storage is a failed science experiment that polluters use to justify pollution - Western Australians deserve better.
