This action is organised by the Brisbane Blacks community. Please join us in standing against white supremacy and the violent ongoing colonisation of the lands commonly recognised as australia.
Australia Day is rooted in white supremacy, the actions of the invaders were in the name of the queen and the commonwealth. As we enter the 228th year of colonialism we as First Nations people still face the colonialism in the criminal justice system, the child safety system, capitalism and land destruction the list goes on and on.
We are inviting everyone to abolish Australia Day. change the date does not suit the outcomes we are fighting for. We want white supremacy to be cancelled and in order for that to be achieved changing the date is not the solution. Jan 26 is a day rooted in colonial violence, the 26th is not a day to celebrate and there can’t be an alternative day to celebrate until colonialism is changed in so called australia
