Larry Ponemon, the CEO of Privacy Council, says that since September 11
he's been hired by at least one major supermarket chain to oversee the
handing over to law enforcement agencies of the buying records of customers
with specific ethnic backgrounds. The authorities requested the data, Ponemon
says, because they were trying to compile a profile of 'terrorist eating
habits'. From the July issue of US Popular Science magazine.
Common sense
I believe that it points up the fact that we need common-sense judges
who understand that our rights were derived from God. And those are the
kind of judges I intend to put on the bench. George The Crusader Bush,
commenting on the June 24 ruling by a California federal appeals court
that the insertion of the words under God into the US pledge of allegiance
by Congress in 1954 violated the US constitution's provision that Congress
shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion.
