Why

We all have a role to play in standing up for human rights and preventing genocide.

Do your council rates have a connection to Palestine?

The Inner West Council has a $238.4M investment portfolio - its vital to ensure our funds are invested ethically and are not linked to the oppression of the Palestinian people.

Similarly, we believe council must ensure that it is not linked to the human rights abuses through its procurement relationships.

We are aware that council uses HP products. HP is a major target for the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign.

Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC) reports that HP Enterprise provides Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority exclusive servers for its racially segregated ID card system.
It provides servers, data storage and data security services for Israel's prisons, that hold political prisoners and children.

HP has been described as the “Polaroid of our times”, a reference to huge mobilisations against the use of Polaroid technology by the South African apartheid regime for its racist passbook system. Polaroid’s 1977 withdrawal from South Africa marked a turning point in the international effort to end apartheid there.
