SYDNEY — Members of Resistance, the Greens, the Uniting Church's Tertiary Students Association and Socialist Alternative picketed the University of NSW military recruitment stall on February 23 during the campus orientation week.

"People come to university to learn so they can help improve the world, not be used as cannon fodder for wars that only benefit a tiny minority", Shua Garfield from the UNSW Resistance club told the protest.

Socialist Alliance member Alex Bainbridge said that the Howard government and not individual soldiers was responsible for the war on Iraq, and pointed out that many soldiers and members of their families in the US and Britain are joining the anti-war movement. "Nobody should have to kill or be killed for the benefit of US oil corporations", he said.

Resistance is helping to organise buses to Canberra to protest against visiting British PM Tony Blair on March 27. Anyone interested in travelling to Canberra for the protest can phone Simon on 0438 297 552 to book a seat.
