We acknowledge this march will take place on the stolen land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land!
The Palestine Action Group Canberra (PAGC) is planning more mass protests as part of the National March for Palestine on August 24.
The Albanese Government’s recent announcement that Australia will recognise a Palestinian state does not erase its ongoing complicity in Israel’s genocide against Gaza. We continue to demand immediate sanctions on Israel, including an end to the two-way arms trade and the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador.
This is the bare minimum our government can do to pressure Israel to accept an immediate ceasefire and end the siege and occupation of Gaza and the West Bank.
To continue to agitate for this demand, PAGC will join the August 24 National March for Palestine alongside hundreds of thousands of others around the country. We expect thousands of people to turn out in Canberra, much like our August 9 march over Commonwealth Bridge, which was endorsed by a broad array of unions, activist groups, community organisations, religious organisations, and other NGOs. We are gathering in Civic Square at 12pm and will march across Commonwealth Bridge again to Federal Parliament.
