Why
ROSY Ctown has booked Hurley Park Community Hall several times across the span of a year, for the use of local music gigs, and open meetings for Campbelltown locals and beyond. As of June 2k the hall will be wunbookable, and is already displayed as permanently closed online.
Campbelltown City Council is currently planning to demolish the current Hurley Park Community Hall, and putting forward 4 million dollars to build a new multipurpose hall, that will be unusable for gigs, and double the hire cost.
ROSY has been actively working against this by building a movement to oppose the Council’s plans. Starting with a petition presented to the Council, emailing the Campbelltown City Council to arrange meetings as well as agenda proposals.
The ROSY petition is built around two major conditions for the Council: That the Council does not move forward with the demolition of Hurley Park, ceasing all plans for ‘Hurley Park 2’, as well as demanding the Council acknowledge that they have failed to develop and consult the community in these plans, and pledge to do so effectively in the future.
The proposed Hurley Park 2, is being built on a separate site that in no way overlaps with the current Hurley Park beyond a footpath. The demolition of Hurley Park is unnecessary.
