Why
It's time for mourning, it's time to organise.
We have recently witnessed a wave of murders committed against trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people around the world.
We organise this vigil to remember our fallen trans siblings, to mourn for the loss, but also to look for a way forward, to draw strength from our community.
It’s a call for action: it’s time to organise against attempts to normalise and excuse transphobia, racism, femcide, and genocide against trans people.
A better future is possible.
Unite we stand.
More details about the vigil coming soon.
- Time: 1 pm
- Date: Sunday, 28 June
- Pride Square, Newtown
We acknowledge that this vigil will take place on the lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Traditional Custodians of this land. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging. We recognise that sovereignty has never been ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
