Why
On Monday 9am, 4 May 2026, while the Inquiry into Waste to Energy Incineration is sitting, we will be out the front making some noise. NSW does not need incinerators. We need real waste avoidance.
They keep telling us the only options are burn it or bury it. We know thats rubbish.
- Cut construction and demolition waste just by using compostable materials like hempcrete that can go back to the soil.
- Make producers clean up their act with proper product lifecycle responsibility and take back schemes. No more toxic throwaway junk.
- Roll out universal FOGO, reuse and decent recycling so the leftover waste shrinks and big incinerators make no sense.
The Inquiry has already heard that energy from waste is old high emissions tech. It means more air pollution, toxic ash and risks to farms, water and community health. Health experts are warning about cancer and reproductive harms. Meanwhile places like Parkes and Tarago are being lined up for more waste incineration instead of the government stopping the waste in the first place.
We are turning up to say:
- No incinerators in Parkes, Tarago, Tomago, Lithgow or anywhere in NSW
- Yes to hemp based homes, reusable systems and smart laws that make waste avoidance the easy choice
- Yes to clean air, safe water and healthy kids lungs

Outside the Inquiry into Waste to Energy Incineration
Bring bright banners, bold slogans and your best campaign energy. Bring friends, family, music and flags. Let's show the Inquiry and MPs that communities are ready for a waste avoidance future.
And just a friendly note this is not Sydney's waste, it is industry's waste, so please skip any signs saying it is Sydney's rubbish. Thank you.
