Why

Join us as the sun rises over Bondi Beach for our annual Dawn Reflection, an opportunity for the community to gather in quiet reflection, acknowledging our First Nations community.

The event serves as a reminder of the enduring resilience and survival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. We take this moment to celebrate and pay respect to the continuous connection to Country and culture of these peoples, as the Traditional Custodians of this land.

The reflection will start at 5.30 am on the sand of Bondi Beach, in front of Bondi Pavilion. Attendees can expect to experience cultural expression from:

  • Josh Sly playing the Didgeridoo
  • La Perouse Elder Aunty Lola Ryan, conducting a Welcome to Country and also reflecting in her own words, what the day means to her
  • The Gamay Dancers with traditional dance from the local area and a smoking ceremony
  • The Dhinawan Yarn dancers
