Why
The Merrigingi Foundation presents CONNECTION DAY 2026.
Welcoming the whole community to come together to connect, remember, and celebrate the LOVE OF COUNTRY.
The day is guided by the values of Yubbrah Yirrabal, meaning oneness of spirit, and Yubbrah Belogaman, meaning one blood.
These values reflect unity, shared identity, and deep cultural connection. The event is grounded in Bundjalung Minjungbal Jugun culture and is led by Elders with a strong focus on truth-telling, leaving space for learning, reflection, and cultural respect.
The day begins at 10:00am with an opening ceremony and Welcome to Country. Throughout the day, there will be kids’ activities, face painting, live performances, DJs, open mic and the HIGH TIDE BRIDGE JUMP at 2:30pm.
Environmental and other groups including Save Wallum, Rising Tide NR, The Climate Justice Alliance, Friends of Palestine NR, The Bob Browne Foundation & Forest Surveys NR will be in attendance.
A closing ceremony will happen at 5pm with the chameleon collective presenting DJs into the night, under the light of the half moon.
