Why

The Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association Australia is hosting the 2023 Energy from Waste conference in Sydney, where the global waste incineration lobby will dominate heavily to greenwash their pollution, climate and health impacts.

Waste incinerators are NOT the missing link in Australia's waste management system. Rather, waste incinerators are the most expensive and polluting way to manage waste, destroying finite resources that the recycling, reuse and composting sector desperately needs as the backbone of a Circular Economy.

Waste incineration supports an unsustainable linear economy, relying heavily on fossil fuel based materials such as plastic. This creates deadly pollution including Dioxin, Mercury, PFAS and microplastics.

The NSW government wants incinerators to be built in regional NSW towns where food, water, cattle, dairy and tourism industries are thriving. But nowhere in NSW is safe from waste incinerators including residential areas in Sydney. Its time to take a stand against this dangerous and highly polluting industry push into Australia.

Our climate, health and livelihoods cannot afford this industry. There are safer more effective ways to manage our residual waste. Incinerators are major climate polluters, exceeding the emissions of fossil fuel plants per unit of energy produced. Our children, communities, environment and agricultural industries need your support. Say NO to the NSW Incinerators!
