The Victorian Labor Government is determined to privatise public housing and sell off public land to their greedy developer cronies.
This is the biggest sell off of public assets ever attempted by a government and as tax payers, citizens and outraged members of society it is up to us to make sure this ill conceived idea that is being carried out in secret against the wishes of public housing residents is stopped.
Mobilise yourself, friends, family, workmates and comrades on Saturday 2 August at 11am at the State Library of Victoria as we say no to this ignorant, uncaring and neoliberal scheme to destroy the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of society and channel more money to greedy corporations and the wealthy.
We will march past Homes Victoria and finish at Parliament House to let the politicians and bureaucrats know load and clear what we think.
The Save Public Housing Collective is a grassroots movement made up of local public housing estate residents and resident groups, neighbourhood friends of public housing, activist and advocacy groups, legal professionals, academics and researchers.
We fight against the state-led abandonment of the human right to housing and the forced displacement of public housing residents through renewal programs.
We fight together for the protection of public housing residents’ rights to dwell in safe, secure and affordable homes and places.
We call for a radical increase in public housing stocks in appropriate well-located areas, and an immediate stop to the transfer of public housing to the unaccountable, non-transparent and subsidy-dependant community housing sector.
Join us on Saturday 2 August at 11am as we save the towers, people's homes and the communities in and around them.
