Four hundred people from the Tamil community participated, carrying the red flags bearing the tiger emblem of Tamil Eelam.

Speakers included Hannah Middleton from the Sydney Peace Foundation and the Communist Party of Australia; Simon Flynn, NSW secretary of the Fire Brigade Employees Union; David Shoebridge from the Greens and state Labor MP Verity Firth.
