SYDNEY — Professor Albie Sachs, a prominent leader of the African National Congress, addressed a meeting of 150 people at the Sydney Town Hall on October 25. Sachs, author of the ANC's constitutional guidelines, reported on the progress being made in negotiations and detailed the ANC's campaign for the April 27 elections. He appealed to all supporters of democracy in South Africa to help the ANC to ensure the liberation movement gains a big majority. Sachs, a veteran of the anti-apartheid struggle, lost an arm and an eye to a car bomb planted by agents of the apartheid regime. Photo by Norm Dixon.
