High school picket a success

PERTH — High school students held a lively picket and speak-out in the mall on August 16. The action was organised by Resistance and the Student Unionism Network, a cross-campus tertiary students' group coordinating the campaign against the Coalition's attacks on education.

Passers-by were asked to sign a huge cloth petition demanding no cuts to education, no HECS or student fees and for increased Austudy. The students decided to join the national high school strike and show solidarity with tertiary students' National Day of Action against the budget cuts on August 29.
