Global Sisterhood Network dinner planned

MELBOURNE — A women's dinner will be held here to raise funds for Piglas Kababaihan (Women Breaking the Chains) in the Philippines. The dinner is planned for Thursday, August 10, 7pm, at Il Gambrero, 215 Lygon Street, Carlton.

Reihana Mohideen from Piglas Kababaihan will speak about her work with rural women in the Philippines as they resist the injustices of "economic fundamentalism".

Lynette Dumble from Global Sisterhood Network will speak about the coalition of women's groups protesting against the global feminised poverty, the social, cultural and military violence against women, and the environmental destruction orchestrated by the world's financial agencies at the World Economic Forum, September 11, in Melbourne.

$25 ($20 concession) covers a three-course meal and a glass of wine. To book, phone 9822 8858 or 0417 519 460.
