ADELAIDE — Paralowie School's new principal, Greg Petherick, is determined to introduce school uniforms.

At least two students (myself included) have refused to wear uniforms because it is conformist and of no benefit to our education.

We were told that if we did not wear uniforms, as well as "not belonging to the school community", we would have to do our lessons at the front office, without other students or teachers. When we objected, saying that there was no way that we could learn properly like this, we were threatened with suspension. Petherick even had the gall to say he was giving us a choice.

Students who are seen out of the uniform are given a detention, sent home to change or sent to the front office and forced to change into a loan. It is not uncommon for this to take at least 20 minutes.
