DSP pledges support for Yallourn workers

The Democratic Socialist Party's 19th congress held January 3-7 unanimously endorsed the following statement in support of the Yallourn power workers.

The DSP pledges its full support for the Yallourn power workers in their struggle to keep their jobs, job security, wages and conditions. We support the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union mining and energy division, Victorian district, struggle to defend their members in the face of combined attack from Yallourn Energy (PowerGen), the ALP, Australian Industrial Relations Commission and sections of the trade union bureaucracy.

We will back up this pledge with active involvement in the CFMEU jobs and community campaign that is attempting to build the necessary community and trade union support required to defeat this latest manifestation of global tyranny working hand in hand with the AIRC and workplace relations minister Peter Reith's Workplace Relations Act.
