Thousands of people from across Perth attended the Midland event on October 31 to commemorate the life of 15-year-old Noongar man Cassius Turvey, who was recently murdered.

The wind was bitterly cold, but the crowd stayed to the end. The atmosphere was sombre, as the family shared stories that gave a picture of a boy who was full of life and dedicated to doing the right thing.

The healing smoking ceremony used 15 separate burning boxes, allowing the thousands to participate.
