The Liberal National Party (LNP) is telling voters in Queensland to give second preferences to Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party.
According to Kuku Yalanji woman Pat O’Shane, who is running for Socialist Alliance in the far north seat of Leichhardt, it is “a sign of good character to be placed last on [Liberal Leichhardt MP] Warren Entsch’s how to vote, especially as he has shown his true colours by recommending One Nation in the second spot”.
O’Shane said her family has “spent their lives fighting racism”. To see the LNP “cosy up” to One Nation is a “kick in the guts to the proud First Peoples of Far North Queensland, as well as our multicultural communities”.
“I stand for a fair go for all people of the Far North,” she said on May 4, adding that she would be “returning the favour” and recommending voters place Entsch last.
“In his 23 years in power he has put ordinary people last when it comes to the climate, housing, health and cost of living.”
