FEMINIST & LGBTIQ+ WALKING TOUR
Sunday April 18, 11-1.30pm
Find out about Sydney's feminist and LGBTIQ+ struggle history.
On the back of International Women's Day and Mardi Gras, this walking tour will catalogue the resistance against the heteropatriarchy.
Rescheduled because of wet weather on March 21, tickets are still available for this inspiring tour.
It’ll explore key women’s rights and LGBTIQ+ street fighting events excluded and muted within the annals of public memory.
We will stop at Aboriginal and women convict rebellion sites. We will review queer campaigns - the 1978 uprising, and marriage equality fight. We will examine migrant women battle sites and stop at momentos of women's literary and journalistic endeavours.
This expedition will demonstrate that feminist resistance, revolts, and determined opposition are part of a people's uprising heritage.
Located in the beautiful Hyde Park, the Barracks and top end of Sydney's CBD.
The tour will take 2.5 hours along a 3km route. Water and nibbles provided.
