Northland Secondary College needs you

MELBOURNE — The following appeal has been issued by supporters of Northland Secondary College, who have been fighting since December 1992 to keep open the school, which the Kennett government is trying to close down.

After 14 months the struggle continues at Northland Secondary College. The Supreme Court has recently overturned the order of the Equal Opportunities Board to reopen the school. The Northland community intends to appeal.

The school community was locked out of the school two hours before classes were due to start. Classes are now being conducted by volunteer teachers in the grounds of the school.

We are seeking alternative premises. Volunteer teachers and educated activists are needed to help run the rebel school. We also books, stationery and art supplies.

Help us to keep alive a unique and culturally sensitive approach to secondary education.

Pass a motion of support at your union meeting/SRC meeting and collect funds at your workplace/school. Drop in at the school Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 62 Murray Rd, Preston.
