Students besiege ALP office

April 24, 1991
Issue

Three hundred university students from all over Sydney besieged the offices of the ALP in a noisy protest against campus overcrowding on April 16, reports Barry Healy. A rock band from Sydney University played protest songs written especially for the event at a volume designed to move even the most isolated bureaucrat. Cans of sardines, symbolising what the students think of the conditions the government is imposing on them, were dumped at the front door. The protest was a part of an ongoing campaign being waged by student organisations. Photo by Michele Thomas.
